Iran president Ahmadinejad calls being gay ‘ugly’.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Western countries should not expect Iran to recognize gays as normal people in society.
Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called homosexuality 'ugly' in an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called being gay ‘ugly’, compared it to stealing, and said it ‘ceases procreation’.
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Ahmadinejad told the British broadcaster Western countries should not expect the Middle East to recognize homosexuality as normal.
When Ahmadinejad was asked by Morgan how great it would be if the Iranian president was for gay rights, the conservative Muslim rejected the suggestion.
He said: ‘I’m sorry. Let me ask you this, do you believe anyone has given birth through homosexuality? Homosexuality ceases procreation.
‘Who has said that if you like or you believe in doing something ugly and others do not accept your behavior, they’re denying your freedom. Who says that?’
Ahmadinejad then suggests if a country wished to legalize stealing, no other country would be expected to agree with them.
‘If you, if a group recognizes an ugly behavior or ugly deed as legitimate, you must not expect other countries or other groups to give it the same recognition,’ he said.
When asked if one of his sons or daughters said they were gay, Ahmadinejad avoided the question.
However, when asked if one of his children dated a Jew, he said: ‘I would have to see who that Jewish man or woman would be. I see love amongst people as completely acceptable.’
Ahmadinejad added: ‘Of course, I think none of us should represent the whole population of the United States, but we believe that color, religion, native tongue, ethnic background shouldn't create differences or distances between people, nor should it be the sole reason to bring people closer together. It has always been like this.’
In the past, the Iranian president who took office in 2005 has denied the existence of any gay people in Iran at all.
‘In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like you do in your country. This does not exist in our country,’ he said in New York, although a spokesman later said this was misinterpreted.
Daayiee Abdullah, a Washington DC-based openly gay Imam and member of Muslims for Progressive Values, told Gay Star News Ahmadinejad has continued to prove he does not understand the world as much as he thinks he does.
'His statement that gay people can't procreate shows how little he understands the process of getting pregnantto have children,' he said. 'So he will continue to say other things that reveals his lack of knowledge.'
In the Middle Eastern country, male and female homosexuality is illegal and gay men are routinely imprisoned and executed.
